Wash Day #1

Wash day #1? Implying that there will be more? Yes there will.. I have decided for 2013 I will begin to document my hair journey so that I could better understand what my hair likes. I am revamping my entire journey in hopes to get to APL or further by December 2013 *whoop whoop*

..Which means new products new techniques and $$ bleeding out my pockets! -hangs head-. I will always name the products I use and how my air reacted. I just really want to get a hold on this healthy hair journey and this the only way I can think of..One of the reasons why I even started this blog . Pretty soon I'll be able to post my regimen because as of now I don;t have one! lol

The point of this post-

Yesterday (Tuesday) was wash day for me and I have to say it went unbelievably well. Its been a long time that I've had a wash day that went so well.

I am 10 weeks post relaxer this Friday. I think I will be stretching to either 12 or 13. I'm going go back to short stretching because I am experimenting will a whole new technique. I will make a post later going into details..

But as I was saying! I am 10 weeks post relaxer and the wash process went so well I cannot believe it! I washed in four sections which did make it a lot easier and I think too because I had one of those hand held shower attachments installed. I completely changed my air drying technique. I incorporate the scarf method with this hard to explain method lol :).

What I did:
  • I shampooed and I was surprised that the shampoo I used did not leave my hair feeling dry as it did before.
  • Applied Roux Porosity for 30 seconds, and then DC for 30 mins with heat.
  • Then I T-shirt dry for 20 mins and applied my leave ins.
  • Let my hair air dry for over an hr then finished drying with my hand dryer on cool air.
  • When hair was dry I de-tangled and then  M&S and bunned.

Simple!

Point is when I was finished there was less hair than I am accustomed to. I wish I could get this photo upload but I was amazed. It was more of the normal amount of hair especially since I had not comb detangled in 3 days. My hair felt soo good.

Products:

  • Suave almond and shea butter shampoo
  • Roux porosity control conditioner
  • DC with Folicure conditioner+honey+OO+CO (I'm out of DC so I'm trying to get rid of my stash of conditioners to make room)
  • HE Split End Protector
  • Mane N Tail Conditioner (I'm curently using as a leave in)
  • Aphogee Green tea reconstructor
  • Grapeseed oil

That's all for now

Urghh!, I'm having a break out

I have yet to figure out how to never have a acne break out. I think If I had one wish from a genie it would be to never have anymore breakouts. No, not to win the lottery or to have the perfect life- after all I don't believe in perfection.

Waking  up Saturday morning I realised that I was about to have a break out. Saw the tiny bumps on  my cheeks and forehead. I'm a bit baffled because these bumps on my forehead are normally period break out which I get around the 18th day of the cycle  but its only been 15. I just do not what's going on. There are about 21 of these tiny bumps on my forehead not forgetting the total of 12 on both cheeks.

I know I need to get on top of what caused my break out so I have narrowed it down to these:

My MSM consumption

or

Makeup I had on friday(Bare minerals)

or

I ate junk food twice last week (lol I couldn't help it!)

I guess I need to start documenting more to help my control my break outs. Let's see how long it takes me to clear this break out and hopefully none of those hideous dark spots remain. I cant stand those guys! urrggh!

Oh Rollerset...You fiend!

As a part of my hair journey I roller-set as a way to air dry and a low manipulation style. Sometimes when my hair is dry I would wet it just to get the curly low manipulation style that one can achieve. I have been doing this long before I have been on my hair journey, not knowing how I was protecting my hair..Or was I? Mmm

Although it is a protective style I rarely do this as I find it very time consuming (takes me over an hr to finish) and my hair endure too much breakage.

When I roller set I use the smaller size rollers which mean I put in an average of 30+ rollers in my hair at a time.

For what I am talking about I use the yellow ones.
Hypothesis: Roller-setting my hair causes excessive breakage

I put my theory to the test and found "Yes" - In my case it does. Granted that I had this style in for 3 days, Yes three days and they still looked fab but I was ready to cowash. After detangling with my fingers in sections I found that there were too many short hair pieces that came out. I would believe that the hair normally breaks and for that style and any style there would be breakage as the hair was put under tension while in curlers.

Now I remember why I never really liked doing my hair like this although  really love how they come out all cute and all..its too much breakage my taste .. that and it takes to much time! :)

How much hair after detangling. Some of it is shedded hair but the majority is broken hair pieces. Rollersetting is a big NO NO

My Experience: Gro Aut Oil

Gro Aut Oil... I first heard of it from a group on hairlista which I am a member. I wanted something that I could oil my scalp with so I did my research and stumbled upon different products but settled on trying this oil.

This oil claims to :

"Promotes hair growth by penetrating the hair shafts driving herbal nutrients into the hair follicles. Customer reviews reveal that gro-aut oil "Fills bald patches, reverses hair loss, or simply grows the long hair you have always desired". With use of this herbal oil and our Gro-Aut shampoo, hair appears to 'grow out' overnight! You'll see noticeable results in as little as 7 days. For the best results, follow our hair care regime."

Here's what I got:

I did not follow their regimen as I had one of my own an also there a tons of ladies who have used this oil and do not follow the regimen and has received great results. I have been using this oil for 7 months and throughout those months I've ordered two 4 oz bottles. My second is still about 2 oz. I used this oil every other day and most of the times on a clean scalp.

Pros:

  • Nourished my scalp
  • Thickened new growth
  • Made my hair somewhat stronger
  • Love the smell (Some people don't like it)

Cons:

  • Shedding was too much to handle
  • Didn't increase my hair growth

..So I really liked the way it thickened my new growth and my scalp is thanking me for it but I will not continue using that as a staple to oil my scalp. Yes, I really like it but I will not be buying it continuously so that I don't run out. Maybe I will use it once in a while. I did not like the fact that it didn't do what I want- promote my hair growth- and the shedding is unbearable. So I am back on my quest to find something that will help promote my hair growth because I am such a slow grower.

Give Gro aut oil a chance though. It may not have helped me the way I wanted but its a good oil and it may work with you. Here is the link so that you can check out the oil and other products. Gro Aut

Reducing Shedding..(Attempt #3)

So this is my third ATTEMPT  at trying to reduce my breakage. But first..

Attempt #1

First I tried taking garlic complex pills because I heard garlic helps with shedding but it hasn't help me a bit. Since July 2012 I have been taking them and the 7 months I have been taking them they have not reduced the excessive shedding that I've been experiencing. Maybe because they are garlic complex and they are made of different vitamins why they didnt work? I have not idea :'(. Maybe I should try full strength garlic pills only.

ATTEMPT #2
I also tried taking MSM capsules to see if it will help with my shedding. This again hasn't been effective for me. I took them through July 2012-September 2012 and saw no results. I always had a glass of OJ afterwards and took them every other day yet.. they did nothing for me. I eventually stopped using them because at the time I was trying to figure out how to control my acne. I'm retaking them over 2 weeks and still no results. I guess another failure..

ATTEMPT #3

This is my current attempt and hopefully this works. Since Tuesday would be my wash day on Sunday I blended garlic cloves and olive oil in the food processor and poured it into a bowl and let that soak for 2 days.. This morning I strained the oil and discarded the garlic residue. I had enough to fill a 4oz nozzle so I'll have some for a while. What I did was oil my scalp and covered my hair with a cap for 2 hrs (Gosh I was tired so I slept through the two hours lol). Then washed as usual.
&

Results
Its too SOON to judge but I did realise there was less hair in the comb as I detangled on my 95% dry hair. I'll have to watch the days and see how this works in reducing my shedding. -Fingers crossed!-

Bye :)

Heat free curls

**HEATLESS CURLS ..HEATFREE CURLY HAIR**

These are my results for my attempt at heatless curls. If you're interested in how I got them then keep on reading...:D. Oh imperfect face below!.. Pay no attention to my not flawless skin, working on gettin bk there still have some dark spots to gooo.. :P

So this is what I did:

1. It was wash day so I clarified with Elasta qp scalp stimulating shampoo(not my regular but I'm trying to finish the bottle that I had reminded how much it liked it)

2. Then I did my hard protein treatment since I was due on. Left that for 30 mins. Moisture DC with something I concocted. Worked real well!! (I'm out of DC so I'm improvising for the time being)

3. I DC for 25 mins with heat bcuz I wanted to watch PLL and I didnt wanna be doing that while it was on. Rinsed that out with cool water then final rinse of cold water. Towel dry for 15 mins then removes the towel and let my hair dry for 30 more mins.

4. When my hair was about 50% dry I applied my leave ins (Mane N Tail Condish&HE split end protector). Let my hair finish drying. Took me about 2.5 hrs to get 95% dry. I m&s with Elasta qp mango butter and grapeseed oil. Then I put in 6 flexi rods- 2 in back, 2 in middle & 2 in front and went to bed :)

When I woke up a took them out and ran my hands through my head, flipped it and just went about my day lol. That's it! That's how I created my curls. I really like em and they came out well. I guess these can be styled whether pinned to the side or scarf bow..Ur choice .. Pity I was going to be home all day :'(...

They are messy, but thats how i like my curls!

Pretty Little Liars IS BACK!

I have been waiting months for this and now it is finally here! *whoop whoop*.. Words cannot express how much I love this show and when it is on break I feel like there's no reason for my tv to be on! haha Season 3. of Pretty Little Liars premiers tonight at 8pm PCT and 9PM ET.

I honestly cannot believe that it as only been 3 seasons! I feel like i have been watching for ages and that I've seen so much that it been like 6 seasons lol. Anyway.. For those who have no idea what PLL (Pretty Little Liars) is here you go:

"Rosewood is a perfect little town. So quiet and pristine, you'd never guess it holds so     many secrets. Some of the ugliest ones belong to the prettiest girls in town -- Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily, four estranged friends whose darkest secrets are about to unravel. One year ago, Alison, the Queen Bee of their group, disappeared and the girls swore they'd never tell what really happened that night. They thought their secrets would bond them together, but just the opposite is true. Then again, who's to say what the truth is in Rosewood. It seems everyone in town is lying about something. Now, as the mystery surrounding Alison's disappearance resurfaces, the girls begin getting messages from "A" saying - and threatening - things only Alison would know. But it couldn't be Alison. Could it? Whoever it is, they seem to know all the girls' secrets, and seem to be watching their every move. The girls are friends again, but will they be there for each other if their dark secrets come to light?"

So now that you know what the show is about and you've never watched it before you should check it out tonight. You wont regret it! Trust me :)

I have anticipated the season after the Halloween special. There are so many questions that I need to be answered. For example

1. What the heck is going on between Toby and Mona? That scene where it looks like they are about to do the nasty..is that for real? Omg I pray not!

2. Toobbyy Toooby :'( ..How could you be apart of the A team? I loved you and you made me cry at the end of season 2 (more like season 3A)

3. Why is Spencer hiding the fact the she found out that Toby works for the A team? Her reaction to this news is going to be heartbreaking to the fans of Spoby (Spencer+Toby)

4.  What will happen between Ezra and Aria? Will they last? Does Ezra finds out about his kid and how does he react when he finds out that Aria knew all along?

5. What the heck is Emily beating with that shovel?

6. Who's hand is that that came out of the grave? Was it Ali's?  I know that there are speculations that it someone thought they killed Ali and they buried her alive thinking she was dead then someone came along who doesnt like her saw she was alive and re killed her? Lol! I know I know... its a lot to take in! but its worth it. :D

I need these questions answered! If anyone can answers these questions for just comment cause I'd really like that!.. I hate being confused and PLL plays with my emotions too much.  4 more hours til the show starts! You need to watch!

There's a marathon on now on abcfamily for those who wants to catch up. I'll be tuning it right after this epi of Law&Order SVU finishes :) Bye guys!
Remember: "Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead"

You guys can check out abcfamily.com for more on the show

My Acne

My Acne...

In 2011 I had some issues with my face and acne. First I must say that my family has a history of acne from my mother to my sister to my aunts and female cousins have battled with acne. Its strange tho.. the males in my family has never had any issues with acne. LUCKY BASTARDS

Anyway..

Lol, due to the fact that I was on my hair journey and I was experimenting I decided to try Biotin and let me tell you its something I have lived to regret

Let me tell you, this thing is like hell in a jar. Granted it did help thicken my hair for the months that I used it and it wasnt even much. I was taking 2000mcg per day. I know ladies that take so much more and have never seen these side effects. Its my own fault tho, I should have know. I have such a sensitive body and sensitive skin that I should have predicted this outcome. After that my skin just kept getting worse.  I just kept breaking out (December 2011-July2012) with these huge and hurtful zits and they always left a dark marks. My body is so complexed that no matter what once my skin is punctured it leaves a mark. So months after I got rid of them ..Took a lot of time and figuring out what's good for my face my face was plagued with hyper-pigmentation marks...

However this was like a year ago and I HAVE TRIED SO HARD TO BOUNCE BACK.  Between September 2012 to Present I have constructed a regimen hat has been very successful. My face has cleared some of the marks but I have ways to go and i still have the occasional menstrual zits or those that just pop up.

So this is my 4 month progress CAUTION: THESE ARE NOT FOR THE FAINT AT HEART!!

After biotin and 8 months  - December 2011- July 2012

4 months into my regimen
In this picture is a bit wet soo.. Anyway Its only been 4 months and I have a good way to go still but Im happy with what I have achieved in the four months. Yes I still have the occasional breakout but its nothing severe. I plan to continue what I am doing so I can achieve the skin I had before my break out. Anyone interested in my regimen just comment and I'll make a post... :D Bye guys! Any questions? Feel free to ask I dont mind
