Summer Protective Style :Havana Twists..

So its Summer and its very hot...you;d think I'm accustomed to this kind of weather since I lived in the Caribbean all my life.. Lol. Anyway, I was about 8 weeks and had a lot of new growth and was completely fed up with dealing with my unruly hair! So after hours and hours of looking at ladies with this style on Youtube and Googling pictures I decided to get them done..

Here Comes the Havana Twists!

All the videos I had seen the ladies had used Marley hair but I also heard that there's a hair called Havana hair that can be used so I settled on the Havana Hair. I bought 4 packs @ $12.99 per pack from www.fingercomber.com. My only problem was that the shades were limited so I had no choice but to purchase the Onyx color which is like a 1. Anyway, the shipping was fast seeing that I had it shipped tot he Caribbean. I was thinking I would have to wait like 3 weeks when it was 1. Major thumbs up!! :D

I decided to give it a try and do them myself using the""Invisible root" method that I found from a lady on Youtube. Here's the Link. I have to say it was pretty easy ..Took me about 4 hours. At first I did them jumbo but after a few hours I didnt like how they look since I have a very small face. Just look weird! So I redid them and did them small by bursting down each twist in two. Now I LOVE em. And it only took me 2 packs and a bit from the 3rd.

Here's the out come!

Two weeks in and a wash

So thats it!.. Oh yeah, one minor thing.. because I bought the Onyx I forget that I had previous hennaed my hair like 2 weeks ago so I would have the reddish hue. Its apparent in the braids. Only when I step out in the sun its obvious. Nothing Major.

Overall, I really like this style and I think I will keep them in for 2 maybe 3 more weeks with redoing if the need arises. Lol People have asked me "if that's my hair?".. Even with braids I still get that. That's all for now
