I am so proud of my self right now I dont even care that I burned myself in areas (tehee!)
For 2013 I really wanted to stop going to the salon to get my hair done so I decided to start relaxing my own hair and saving $120xcd that I could use for something else. So I upped and purchased my own sprush (TC2030) and all my goodies.
I have to say it wasnt an
easy task and it took a while. What made it so difficult is that the week when wanted to get my hair relaxed my hot water heater broke so I put it off for one week hoping we'd get it fix but that not possible right now (Gosh I
hate repair men sometimes!). And I could take it anymore so me? I got my tubs and buckets of warm water prepared to wash out my relaxer and stuff. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do
1. The day before you oiled my scalp with coconut oil. I always did this when I would go to the salon to get my hair relaxed. Then on relaxer day I based my scalp with vaseline. Coated the length of my hair with Roux Porosity -> PM Detangler + PM Supercharged Moisturizer. Divided my hair in for sections and then each section into smaller parts to make the relaxer process easier and quicker. <-This was very helpful
2. Since I am first timer I decided to do the half and half method starting with the back section. Set the timer on my ipad for 20 mins. The back section-applying relaxer and smoothing- left me with 9 mins to spare on the timer . Washed out the relaxer and applied Aphogee 2 Min Reconstructor for about 4 mins -> washed that out neutralized with ORS Creamy Poo. I must have gotten all that relaxer out cause I washed 3x to be extra sure and all three times the soap suds what white.
3. Stepped out the shower and did the same to the front section. This time I had about 8 mins remaining on the timer. Washed out the relaxer and did my mid protein step and then neutralized.
4. Washed my hair again with PM Wild ginger shampoo and then applied PM SS Daily Treatment for 5 mins and the DC with ORS Replenishing Conditioner w/heat for 30 mins under the dryer.
5. Finally rinsing that and being able to step out the shower I towel dried for 2 mins and applied DB Vanilla Delight Leave in and PM SS Serum. I decided to roller-set in jumbo roller and when I was fully dried I Applied Aphogee Green Tea Reconstructor and then saran wrapped for 10 minutes. Took that down M&S with DB Transitioning Creme and Grapeseed oil. Wrapped that back up and went to bed. Whew! I was tired >.>
6. When I was finished I think it was 11:20pm and I had work the next day so I was glad to go to bed.
My Assessment
Honestly, I have to I am pretty proud of myself for my first time and the added pressure of the broken heater. I got nearly all the hair smooth bone straight except for an inch wide -finger long- area at the crown of my head that was under-processed. However, I really don't mind . I did burn myself at two points to both sides of my head but they are not a big deal.
This is something I will DEFINITELY do again. This was my first time I would score myself 8.5/10 and you know there is always room for improvement so I will get better! :D
I dont have any pictures of the process cause I wanted to get it over with right away. But these are the results ->
